Fairview Gardens CSA FAQ

As a member of Fairview Gardens CSA, I understand that I am making a commitment to support our farm and to share in the rewards and risks of the farmer’s harvest. I am contracting to receive a designated share of weekly produce. I understand that my payments are NON-REFUNDABLE. It is my responsibility to pick up my share weekly at the designated time and place. There is NO refund or accommodation for missed pick up unless arranged ahead of time with the CSA coordinator.

How much produce do I get in each share?

The number of items and weight vary each week. Usually you get between 8-10 items and sometimes when we have a bumper crop, you receive bonus items.

What if there is something that I don’t like?

Each week, you may see items you haven’t tried or even heard of before. We do offer recipes so that you can become familiar with preparing the bounty of the harvest. However, if there is something you really do not like, we offer a trade basket. You may put one item of your choice in the basket and take one item out of the basket to take with you. We do our best to have various items in the trade basket.

Can I pay by installments or do I have to pay all at once?

A CSA is a mechanism to help the farm fund capital investment, we offer discounts for multiple week buy-in. Presently we do not offer installment plan payments. When you join our CSA we will renew your membership when your balance reaches zero. There is no need for you to sign-up again. We will notify you two weeks before your commitment will end.

Do I need to commit to the entire season?

Our CSA is set up to be an on-going CSA, which means that you can join at any point in the year. We ask for a minimum eleven week commitment. Discounts are based on volume commitment.

Can a friend pick up my share?

Yes! At each location there is a list with CSA names so as long as they know how your CSA share is listed, they are welcome to pick up your share.

Can I share my share with a friend?

Of course! However, we ask that one of you be the contact person to receive the entire share, then split it up yourselves. We are unable to split shares at pick up.

Are there other additions besides produce I can add to the box?

Presently we do not add other items for purchase. Our Farm Stand offers a variety of organic produce and organic dry goods and is open during CSA pick-up hours at the farm.

Can I trade pick up days and locations?

Yes you can trade locations. We charge $5/delivery at Whole Foods.

THURSDAYS: Whole Foods, 3761 State Street, Santa Barbara, 4-7 pm
All of our deliveries are on Thursday at this point

What if I missed my share?

We love to accommodate but reality is that we have harvested your share already and therefore are unable to harvest again. If you can’t come, let us know 72 hours in advance so we remove your name from the list and therefore do not harvest your share.

What if I go in Vacation?

You can put your share on hold with our online system. It is your responsibility to make sure that you re-engage your subscription with enough weeks left in the year to satisfy your commitment.

We will NOT offer any reimbursement for shares missed because of a vacation hold.
