We’re building a new chicken coop, and we need your help!

Fairview Gardens and Leadership Santa Barbara County are teaming up to build a new, larger chicken coop to accommodate more chickens when they arrive in the spring. Many of the children who visit Fairview Gardens for summer camp and field trips look forward to visiting the chickens, and learning about the critical role that chickens play in food production. Fairview Gardens is looking to take in 125 chicks this year, and they will provide the community with eggs, fertilizer—and they also eat bugs! A new coop will provide the chickens shelter and a safe space to lay eggs and roost, and will allow even more students and campers to experience Fairview Garden’s one-of-a-kind teaching atmosphere.

Fairview Gardens will be working with Leadership Santa Barbara County to raise funds, design, and build this chicken coop to be completed by May 2013. But we can’t build this without your help so please consider donating.

We need to raise $3,000 by May to build this coop!

What your donation will go towards:
• Happy and healthy chickens who lay farm fresh eggs
• Building supplies: paint, lumber, nails, chicken wire, etc.
• 30 nesting boxes
• Fresh hay for the chicken’s to roost and stay dry
• A separate feed storage area
