Summer Farm Days

Farm Exploration, Harvesting, Cooking and Eating, and Fun.
Experience Nature first hand on the farm

Day camps from June-August 2008

Farm Life

Do you ever imagine what it would be like to be a farmer? Have you ever wanted to learn to take care of goats or chickens? In this camp we will explore life on the farm. Learn to use farm tools, learn more about tractors, harvest eggs, play traditional farm games, and complete the daily farm chores.

Farm Art

Farming may be a science, but it is definitely an art. Art can be found everywhere on a farm from the beautiful colors of seeds to the patterns on wings. Join us for a week of artistic exploration. We will create a Fairview Gardens mural, create art from nature, press and dry flowers, make our own recycled paper, and much more.

Kinder Farm and Farmhouse Cooking

Adults will love the retreat as much as the students will love camp.  This short 3-day camp allows you and your kids to come to camp together.  We’ll have typical farm camp activities for children and adult cooking opportunities for the parents. Lern some new Indian dishes with personal Chef Aparana and how to make goat milk ice cream and cheese.

Flower Power

Would you like to learn to grow your own fruits and vegetables? How about creating a camp garden? Have you ever wondered how a plant eats or breathes? In this exciting camp we will explore the wonderful world of plants, fruits, and vegetables. Discover the wonderful world of plants with us through fun activities, games, gardening, crafts and more.

Farm Exploration

Fairview Gardens has natural places to explore that most people miss on just one visit.  During the week, we will climb the Mulberry Tree to spot a screech owl, track animals in the avocado grove and play predator prey in the asparagus jungle.  This land offers much to explore in the summer.  We'll do our share of harvesting and checking on the baby goats and chickens as well.

Animal Apprentices

Do you love farm animals? Have you ever wondered how to milk a goat or how a hen lays an egg or bees make honey? Join us as we explore the farm animal style, we'll search the soil of anything that slithers, crawls, or buzzes, play with baby goats (kids), make cheese and harvest honey.  Together we will learn more about all the critters that make our urban farm unique.

Farmhouse Cooking

A hands-on camp for aspiring chefs, bakers, and those who love food. We will learn more about food and cooking as we harvest and prepare a new meal each day. We'll learn cooking skills, play games, create menus, and harvest. Bring your appetite for this exciting camp devoted to good food.
