Tuesday From the Farm
As I sit down to write this and look out over my own garden I feel an immense amount of gratitude for living in Santa Barbara. We have had the most incredible summer weather that has seeped out into what is looking like a lovely Indian summer. I have traveled all over the globe, exploring and looking for that perfect place to call home, and every time I come back to our little city, I have the realization that I am already living here.
The plants on the farm seem to be just as happy as I am. Our 2nd planting of tomatoes is already flowering and producing fruit’s. Woo Hoo! There is new growth coming in on the land and it’s nice to see the little baby plants stretching their arms higher and higher every day.
We are still at a peak for tomatoes for about the next week. Our Sugar Snap peas are looking delicious and our lettuce mix should be ready in a week or so too.Beets, spinach, zinnia’s, spinach, sugar snap peas, cilantro, green beans, lettuce, radish, bok choy and a full array of kale/collard green/cabbage/broccoli is growing nicely for Fall.
We should be starting to harvest our Carrots in a week or two and will be harvesting a nice selection of Winter Squash this week. It is going to be a great Fall!
This week, we are going to purchase Corn from Givens and Yukon Gold Potatoes. For those of you that like to cook, that would make a really nice Corn chowder or a potato and leek soup
Enjoy this summer bounty!
